Machine & tool safety is important in the production of goods and keeping the services we offer running smoothly. Understanding how to efficiently use machines and tools also allows us to operate more efficiently and keep operating costs down, which means a cheaper product can be offered to consumers.

Safety is everyones responsibility. Safety not only impacts you but those working around you. If you see unsafe activity or something that needs to be fixed it should be reported immediately to your instructor. Many accidents have happened because someone forgot to report something or they were going to say something later.

We will be working through the following modules of machine and tool safety. You will take a pretest before reviewing the content. While completing the content you will answer some questions checking your understanding. We will review and demonstrate safe operating procedures in class and then you will take your state mandated safety test prior to being able to operate the machine or tool in the lab without one on one supervision.

Remember you are required to wear safety glasses, long pants, and closed toed shoes at all times while you are in the lab. Additional safety requirements will apply depending on the tools or machines that are being used to complete specific processes in the lab.
